Rain couldn’t stop these two …
The weather took a turn for the worst and Kendall and Jon found themselves living out “island life” and it’s unexpected storms even on their wedding day. It’s part of the charm of the island that Kendall grew up spending so much time on, in their family’s beach house. She had dreamt of getting married there, and the day had finally come.
With no cars on the island or the option to keep the entire wedding party protected from the rain, we talked about plan B, then plan C …
Kendall and Jon had their first look in the chapel on Bald Head Island, and it was private, intimate, and gorgeous. We made the trek back across the island to meet up with the wedding party at The Shoals Club for photos before heading back to the chapel where their ceremony could be held in the protection and comfort of a climate controlled environment and a roof over their heads.
Their ceremony was sweet and simple and had me in tears. The rain lifted and their dreams of portraits outdoors around the island came true as they drove their Rolls Royce golf cart around the island.
Their day was far from ideal with the weather, but that’s the beauty of what we do … we roll with the punches, help figure out plan B when things don’t go as planned, and still find ways to make each and every wedding story filled with it’s own unique beauty and charm.
Kendall and Jon, thank you for choosing me to capture your day. Thank you for your kindness and care throughout all the unexpected twists and turns. I, for one, think your day turned out absolutely beautiful and I LOVE the windblown look and the story it tells. I hope you do too, and that you remember to share all those little details in the decades to come as you retell the story of your day over and over again.
