I talk a ton over here about mindfulness and meditation and everything in between, and for good reason:
Because I’ve seen how that intentionality has changed — no, transformed — my life and my entire business, and there’s truly nothing I want more than for you to start focusing in on the things that will help you do the same.
And, for me, that’s been the way I show up for myself. The way I believe in my own intuition. The way I find peace and rest and everything in between.
Because, here’s the truth, my friend: the reality you want — the one you crave — can absolutely, wholly, completely be your own.
I can absolutely promise you that you’re worthy of everything you desire, that you’re worthy of taking up space, and that you’re worthy of living the life you’ve been dreaming… and then some. However, I also know that embodying that truth can be difficult sometimes, you know?
I get it.
Enter: the mindfulness practice I’ve been loving lately.

In one of the coaching programs I participate in, we ended up all taking the time to try out a really cool practice — saying “I am ____, and I decide _____.”
Let me explain: we talked a lot in this program (just like I do over here) about the difference between wanting something and truly embodying it. There are so, so, so many things that can get in the way of us really embodying the lives we want to live, and we owe it to ourselves to take a deep breath and sink into those beliefs that give us that life we want.
See, we tend not to believe in ourselves very much, you know? We tend to want these things in our lives, but we don’t step into them. We don’t believe them, down to our cores. It’s why making ourselves believe in ourselves and our dreams and goals and visions is so, so essential.
Our coach brought up this practice — “I am ___, and I decide ___” — to help us embody the things we want and are dreaming of in our lives, and it’s something I’ve been coming back to lately.
Here’s how it works
Okay, so if you’re thinking, “Elizabeth… I have zero idea what you’re talking about,” I’ve got you.
See, the point behind this practice is to challenge you to speak the life you want to be living into existence… and to decide that you’re going to live that life, no matter what. Instead of internalizing things or keeping them hidden, this practice challenges you to truly embody that life you want to live.
You’re going to find a place you feel comfortable and at home, whether that’s in your office, your backyard, or even your car, and speak what you’ve been desiring out loud — and then decide that you’re going to reach that thing you’re desiring, regardless of what comes up.
For instance, maybe you’re an artist — and you say something like “I am Elizabeth Marx, and I decide to sell my new painting for $5,000.”
Maybe you’re a photographer, and you say something like “I am Elizabeth Marx, and I decide to be booked out for 2023..”
Maybe you’ve been working on a course, and you say something like “I am Elizabeth Marx, and I decide that this launch is going to be wildly successful because this course is exactly what my people need…”
And I want you to say it again, and again, and again. I want you to practice taking up space — physically, mentally, and emotionally — and I want you to keep coming back to it: who you are, and what you decide, until you believe it.
Until you know it, deep, deep down.
Until you FEEL it in your body.
Until you feel a shift happen internally.
Until you’ve embodied it the whole way.
Just wait and see the difference that happens, not only in the way you show up for said goal, but for the way things begin to come together to support that truth in surprising ways. Sometimes simply taking a few minutes to focus on mindset can make all the difference.
Plus, focusing on those small practices can make all of the difference.
I talk a ton over here about the practices I’ve followed, and the same ones I encourage my students to follow, for good reason: they work. They change the way you think, the way you approach things, and the way you see yourself. If “I am ____, and I decide ____” doesn’t resonate with you, that’s okay!
