We recently had the pleasure of capturing Lina & Cory’s engagement session in the breathtaking location of Craggy Gardens. Set up in the Blue Ridge Parkway, this spot offers some of the most amazing “top-of-the-world” views in Asheville that are the perfect backdrop for a newly engaged couple. Not only were they a dream to work with, but they had the cutest “how we met” (and proposal) stories! Rather than try to describe it myself, I asked the bride-to-be, Lina to share their love story…

How They Met: “Our story began on move-in day Freshman year at Indiana University. I was busy unpacking suitcases in my dorm room when Cory stopped by to introduce himself. He happened to live on the same floor just around the corner. As it turned out, we actually had a class together that first semester, so we saw each other often. Soon, we became friends through our daily trips to class and weekly walks to the gym. On 3/3/13 we became more than just neighbors and friends, and little did we know it’d be the beginning of forever… From IU to I do!”

How He Proposed: “I had made a reservation at one of our favorite restaurants along the Tampa riverwalk to celebrate Cory’s birthday with his family. That morning Cory left for work before I woke up, which was very out of the norm… He avoided me all day and at lunch time texted me asking me to just meet him at the restaurant, because he was grabbing a beer with his dad before dinner. I kept thinking this is weird… So I grabbed an Uber, got to the restaurant, and as I walked up I saw him sitting on a rock by himself facing the river. I tapped him on the shoulder asking where the rest of the family was, and next thing I knew he was guiding me closer to the water, getting down on one knee, and asking me to marry him! We then made our way to the restaurant where a table was set for two. Only Cory would go out of his way to give up his birthday celebration, change the reservation without me knowing, and pull off the most unforgettable surprise.”

We cannot wait for this adorable couple to tie the knot next year at the fabulous Omni Grove Park Inn. Lina told us that they chose this venue because of it’s “historical charm and breathtaking scenery,” and that she “wanted a venue where family and friends could be together for the weekend and still have easy access to all of the unique shops, restaurants, and breweries Asheville has to offer.”
