Welcome to the Almond Leaf Blog!

I (Elizabeth) am a photographer who loves to see people relax, laugh and enjoy life. I thoroughly enjoy the simple delights of life, and love having the opportunity to capture them through my lens.

I see my camera as a means to reveal the beauty I see in people, objects, and Light that usually go unnoticed. While I adore children, weddings, and families enjoying life together, the driving force behind Almond Leaf Studios is a deep desire to see that same freedom and joy realized in the lives of women and children suffering injustice throughout the world. Photographing your family, your engagement, or your wedding day directly contributes to my ability to help in the fight against human trafficking and other social injustices throughout the world.

In this blog you'll find professional posts about what we're doing at Almond Leaf Studios, silly details about my quirky little life, and hopefully a funny story or two that'll put a smile on your face. Check back regularly for the latest happenings, and don't forget to leave a comment!

logan

Meet Logan, the fun little 2 yr old that my sister gets to hang out with all day … it’s her job! For months I have been hearing about this little guy, and how amazing his parents are, too. While I was in Alaska, I finally had the chance to meet them, and she is...

the pink goonies

A while back I was approached by Robbye, who wanted to purchase a photo session for her sister as a Mother’s Day present. I, of course, quickly agreed and was sure to let her know that I couldn’t think of a better gift! What I didn’t know was that I’d end up getting to photograph...

boys will be boys

There’s not much that needs to be said about this beautiful, fun family … except that Stacey has her hands full with two little ones that are all boy! We didn’t even have to go far to find some great light and scenery. These were all shot in and around their house … mostly in...

The Chalfants {a beautiful Charlotte family}

Paxson and Gracie Myers are some of the cutest kids I know (Ok, let’s be honest, I pretty much fall in love with every kid I meet … I just can’t help it!) I had the privilege of photographing Gracie Myers and Paxson when Almond Leaf was just starting (almost a year ago!), and we...

beautiful charlotte family

I just love stories of how God brings two people together, especially when it involves moving from another country somewhere in the process. Patricia came to Charlotte years ago, they met, fell in love, and now this beautiful Charlotte family creates such an environment of being at-ease that it’s super comfortable to be around them...

Tyler turns two

I’ve been a bit behind with the blogging as of late. We’ve got such exciting things coming down the road with the non-profit I work with {Silent Images} and between that and all the holiday portraits, I’ve been a bit slower than usual! Thanks for all your patience. Sweet little Tyler sure does have two...

steps of faith

The world would often consider a person crazy for quitting their job and all seeming security in order to pursue something deep in their hearts … especially something that doesn’t promise being lucrative. Matt and Lana recently took a big step of faith and are in the process of starting Speak Up, a grassroots ministry...

shy no more {part 2 of the cutest sisters}

Although not our norm (outdoors, golden sunlight, and little ones “in action”), part 2 of our shoot with these two beautiful sisters was a blast. Sweet little Caroline and Hannah Kate are seriously some of the cutest little girls I know. It’s been such a joy to watch them grow each year! Hannah Kate can...

tickles, tears, and lollipops

The thing about photographing good friends is that you can ask them to try new things … that’s beauty of them being friends, not just clients. Daniel and Meredith have two adorable little girls, and I’ve had the privilege of photographing them a number of times already. It’s hard to believe that Caroline is not...
