Welcome to the Almond Leaf Blog!

I (Elizabeth) am a photographer who loves to see people relax, laugh and enjoy life. I thoroughly enjoy the simple delights of life, and love having the opportunity to capture them through my lens.

I see my camera as a means to reveal the beauty I see in people, objects, and Light that usually go unnoticed. While I adore children, weddings, and families enjoying life together, the driving force behind Almond Leaf Studios is a deep desire to see that same freedom and joy realized in the lives of women and children suffering injustice throughout the world. Photographing your family, your engagement, or your wedding day directly contributes to my ability to help in the fight against human trafficking and other social injustices throughout the world.

In this blog you'll find professional posts about what we're doing at Almond Leaf Studios, silly details about my quirky little life, and hopefully a funny story or two that'll put a smile on your face. Check back regularly for the latest happenings, and don't forget to leave a comment!

summer photo class

In the midst of the craziness of summers, wedding season, and moving (again), I’ve also been teaching a summer photo class through my role with Silent Images. This year we are partnering with A Child’s Place and their summer camp program, teaching photography to around 50 homeless kids here in Charlotte. I’m thoroughly impressed with...

Urban Eagles {Silent Images}

Last week I had the privilege of shooting a need for Silent Images with a team of photographers. The Charlotte Eagles soccer team has launched a new ministry called Urban Eagles, where they intentionally get out into the community to give back. When I agreed to help document what they had going on, I knew...

Jean—Fall Foto Fest

You want to talk about privilege? Shooting Jean and his wife at the Fall Foto Fest was an absolute privilege for me. This amazing couple had never had a photograph of just the two of them! They grew up together, fell in love as teenagers, went through a LOT living overseas, and were reunited and...

Lauren—Fall Foto Fest

A few weeks ago we had a fundraiser for a team of people headed to Haiti with United Effort for the Poor. While it meant having to miss the Panthers game that Sunday afternoon (who have not been doing so well this season, I might add), it was great to get out and support a...
